The yoga program at the Barrington Yoga Loft offers classes for all levels. We have created an inclusive atmosphere, where every individual can feel comfortable learning and growing in their practice.
Trying something new can be intimidating, so we offer a 2 session Private Introduction to Yoga for new students. After completing the introductory sessions, you will be ready to take advantage of our other class offerings. Our yoga class descriptions and levels are detailed below to assist you in finding the perfect fit. Our instructors are knowledgeable, warm, welcoming and very experienced in each of their specialties – Intro to Yoga, Vinyasa, Restorative,Yin and Hot. The instructors are always available to answer questions you may have or to guide you as you grow your practice. Alignment Flow (Level 1) Greet the day in this class focused to weave movement with breath while still emphasizing key alignment and anatomical positioning. This class takes a light-hearted and playful approach, allowing students to feel safe and comfortable exploring new elements within their bodies and their practice. Inversions and arm balances are often part of this invigorating morning challenge. 60 minutes. Hot Vinyasa (Level 2+) This is a challenging Vinyasa class which focuses on deep connections, alignment and breath work that will help you find your inner strength, stability, and clarity. This class is challenging as the heat adds an additional layer of complexity - it is designed for seasoned practitioners. This class is taught in a heated room with added humidity putting the heat index between 105 - 110 degrees. We recommend arriving at least 5 minutes early to acclimate to the heated surroundings. Please bring a towel for your mat and water to keep yourself hydrated. 75 minutes. Restorative Yoga (all levels): Restorative applications of poses to strengthen and lengthen muscles, align the spine, hips and shoulders while creating space and relieving tension. This class combines soothing styles of Yoga including Yin in addition to incorporating Yoga massage balls and other props. The intention is to maintain a spacious, healthy and strong body and is safe for anyone with non-acute, moderate joint or low back pain. Class is held in a warm studio. 75 minutes. Slow Flow (all levels) This is the class to experience the exhilaration and grounding of a Vinyasa style class. Greet your day in our Slow Flow class. You will heal, detoxify and exhilarate your body and mind while emphasizing movement, balance and intention. You will focus on core strength, balance and flow to build a solid practice. 60 minutes Vinyasa (Level 2) This vigorous class will help you find your edge, strengthen your body and stretch your mind to discover what is possible. You will energetically flow between poses and access your inner strength and grace giving you a full-body workout. Come play, challenge and empower yourself! 75 minutes. Warm Yin Yoga (all levels): Find the deep connections and release through a series of held poses. While the class is restorative, the longer holds add a layer of challenge for the practitioner. Through longer holds (typically held anywhere from 2-5 minutes) Yin Yoga allows us to work the other half, the deeper tissues of our ligaments, joints and deep fascial networks. This class is suitable for seasoned beginners and advanced practitioners. 60 minutes.
Yoga Class levels: All Levels: These classes are appropriate for everyone – beginner to advanced. Our All Levels classes are Slow Flow, Restorative and Warm Yin. Level 1 Classes at this level will be challenging, but accessible to newer students or those wanting a stronger foundational class. Alignment Flow is our Level 1 class. Level 2: Building on the foundation of proper alignment, Level 2 classes contain more vigorous sequences are multiple poses are linked together to build strength, stamina and flexibility. Vinyasa is our Level 2 class. Level 2+: These classes contain the challenge of Level 2 classes but add heat which takes the work deeper. This class is not appropriate for beginning students.
